Hmmm...

Up next on A2Z..."H"

Not exactly a letter that screamed possibilities, (unless you’re a horse fanatic.) Hmmm...

I reviewed my week to see if anything outstanding had happened when a recurring theme began to emerge. And I quickly attempted to shove it aside. Surely I didn’t need to write about THAT…But it seemed there was no escape so here it is:

I’ve been annoyed lately. A lot.

My fuse has gotten so short, it lights up like a cheap firecracker. And most of the time it’s over stupid stuff. But when things pile up, I tend to blow.

For example, I had a business give me lip service about customer service while treating me unfairly, parroting canned responses, and even insinuating that THEIR error was my fault.

Then there was the repairman that kept spinning me off, breaking promises, and insulting my intelligence just because I was a “clueless” female. (He soon found out I was anything but…)

On top of all this, the betrayal of inanimate objects started to make me so paranoid; I accused my hair of joining the conspiracy.

Hmmm…

I guess in my neat and tidy world, I always think things should go my way. Fair treatment ought to be the norm. People should keep their word and have integrity. Things will never break and inconvenience won’t happen.

But life goes awry on a regular basis and my temper ramps up. I can throw a fit faster than a four-year-old in Wal-Mart. And it has become apparent that my attitude stinks.

Deciding I needed a touch from God (probably right upside the head) I turned to the instruction manual:

Make allowances for each other's faults and forgive anyone who offends you.
Col. 3.13  NLT

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Eph. 4.32  NLT

Hmmm…

I’m supposed to overlook faults and forgive others. Be nice, keep my temper in check, and have a tender heart. I don’t need to be a doormat, but it’s painfully obvious that I need to learn to handle conflict without flying off the handle. Maybe a little acceptance would help too…

Here' some things I've learned:

·        Life is full of injustices and sometimes I will be  mistreated.
·        People don't always keep their word. Deal with it.
·        Things break.
·        Bad haircuts happen.
·        And none of it is the end of the world.

EXTREME Birthday

>> Tuesday, February 7, 2012

(This week's post is for the Letter "E" of the A2Z4U&Me Meme)

I had a birthday last week!

And I'm probably supposed to say things like, "It's just a number," and "Oh, I stopped counting a few years ago..."

But here's the deal: I rather enjoy celebrating my Existence. So in honor of my special day, come along on a journey through my Extreme birthday!
The day started out with cards, presents, phone calls, texts, emails, and tons of cyber-love on FaceBook. (Boy, if that don't make you all warm & fuzzy, nothing will.)
Played "Words With Friends" and got a 96-point word. (Jealous, aren't ya?)

Then it was time to head out
with my awesome sisters for fun and frivolity.

We started with lunch at the"Lucky Moose" in Ft. Wayne, Indiana

Then moved on to the mall for retail therapy. Not really into shopping, I did manage to do my part to contribute to the cause. ($$$$)

No birthday is complete without cake so we Googled for a cupcake shop and indulged at Yum-Mee's Bakery...

Followed by coffee...

But all good things must come to an end and eventually we had to head back to Michigan. There was still one more very important stop to make:

Mom.

I've always made it a point to thank my mom for birthing me. After all, my wonderful life would not be possible without the one person (well two actually--my dad was kind of involved) that made it all happen in the first place.

It was an absolutely perfect birthday and I couldn't have asked for anything more but...

Sure wouldn't mind another 96 point word someday....
